Netanjahu ist tot.

Die Kriegsdrohungen gegen den Iran, sowie die Bombardements gegen den Gazastreifen, haben einen simplen Hintergrund: Benjamin Netanjahu, Ehud Barak, sowie alle anderen Akteure der rechtsradikalen Regierung Israels versuchen mit allen Mitteln und ihren Fantomparteien die noch dieses Jahr anstehenden Wahlen in Israel zu gewinnen. Das wird ihnen nicht gelingen, da sich mit einem Dreivierteljahr Verspätung der soziale Protest der Bevölkerungsmehrheit parlamentarisch-demokratisch umsetzt.

Ein rothaariger junger Mann

MEIN HELD des Jahres ist (bis jetzt) ein junger rothaariger palästinensischer Flüchtling, der in Syrien lebt und Hassan Hejazi heißt. Er war einer von Hunderten von Flüchtlingen, die die Demonstration auf der syrischen Seite des Golan-Grenzzaunes zur Erinnerung an die Nakba („Katastrophe“) hielten – den Exodus von mehr als der Hälfte des palästinensischen Volkes aus dem von Israel im 1948er Krieg eroberten Gebiet. Einige der Demonstranten rannten hinunter bis zum Zaun und überquerten das Minenfeld. Glücklicherweise explodierte keine Mine – vielleicht waren sie einfach zu alt.

A Brown-haired Young Man

MY HERO of the year (for now) is a young brown-haired Palestinian refugee living in Syria called Hassan Hijazi. He was one of hundreds of refugees who held the demonstration on the Syrian side of the Golan border fence, to commemorate the Naqba – “Disaster” – the exodus of more than half the Palestinian people from the territory conquered by Israel in the war of 1948. Some of the protesters ran down to the fence, crossing a minefield. Luckily, none of the mines exploded – perhaps they were just too old.
