VIPS glaubt, dass ein israelischer Angriff „bereits diesen Monat“ erfolgen könnte – und dass dies „wahrscheinlich zu einem größeren Krieg führen würde.“ Das nachfolgende Memorandum an US-Präsident Barack Obama wurde von den “Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity” (VIPS) geschrieben und am 3. August auf “Consortiumnews” (http://www.consortiumnews.com/) unter der Überschrift “Obama Warned Israel May Bomb Iran” veröffentlicht. VIPS wurde 2003 als Reaktion auf den Irakkrieg gegründet.

PEOPLE ENDOWED with sensitive political ears were startled this week by two words, which, so it seemed, escaped from the mouth of Binyamin Netanyahu by accident: “Eastern front”. Once upon a time these words were part of the everyday vocabulary of the occupation. In recent years they have been gathering dust in the political junkyard.
